Temple Christian School is to be a school where students are led to
develop academically. The academic program of the school has been
constructed to enable students of average or above-average ability to
learn and grow intellectually. The teacher’s responsibility in the
learning process is to plan and prepare carefully the material to be
learned. The teacher should present the material in an interesting,
positive manner, attempt to motivate and excite students about the
material, and interweave Scripture and spiritual principles into the
lessons.

"... the teachers were
very involved in our lives, and dedicated to our learning and
spiritual development.
They truly showed Christ's
love for us."

Finally, the teachershould hold the
student accountable for learning the material by testing or evaluating in
some form. The student’s responsibility is to be present and attentive in
class, and to maintain an open mind and willing spirit toward the subject
and the teacher. The student is to faithfully complete all assignments on
time and to prepare diligently for tests or other evaluations. Parents are
responsible to support the teacher and to help the student by providing for
a study time at home, helping with homework as needed, contacting teachers
if there is a problem, and holding their child accountable for his
performance at school. We feel that if teacher, student, and parents are
working together, the child has the best chance for academic success. We
endeavor to educate the whole person, academically, physically, socially,
and spiritually.
Empowerment and Faith classes are an enrichment to our curriculum. These
are remedial classes for those students needing extra attention in math,
reading, spelling, and writing skills. To qualify a student must be more
than one year deficient in one or more of these areas. Testing for these
programs are done during the placement testing, when a student first
enrolls.
Transfer Students (grades 1-6): All incoming new students are
required to take a placement test ($25.00) and an Empowerment examination
($79.00). these tests are used to determine the grade level in which the
student will be placed. Should the student’s accomplishments (as shown by the
test) be on the grade level to which the student has been promoted, the
student will then be admitted to that grade. The placement test will
determine the grade level in all subjects except reading: the Empowerment
test will determine level in reading. It is the policy of the school to
require students not at grade level to participate in Empowerment remedial
program at an increased fee. Students whose current work is not satisfactory
may be asked to transfer out.
Help Sessions are held after school. Parents receive a note concerning help
class, if it is necessary for their student to attend. However, a student
receiving an "F" on his/her report card may be required to attend summer
school to be promoted. These Help Sessions are left up to the discernment of
each teacher.
