Academy of Arts
Temple Christian School

The Academy of Arts is a Christian
evangelistic drama team ministering in over
1000 fundamental, bible-believing churches in 27 states to more than
50,000 people each year. As a
leading pioneer for conservative, Christian
school fine arts programs, The Academy of Arts
believes that the arts were given to us by God and should glorify Him.
The
Drama Seminar & Camp teams, consisting of qualified Directors,
Tech Men and Costume/Make-up Supervisors, have been "making the Bible
come alive" for Christian schools since 1973.
The ministry is convinced of the
effectiveness of drama in teaching solid, biblical principles and religious
history and is committed to instilling a conservative, biblical
worldview in philosophy, teaching students that they can and
should serve God with their talents.

This year's
production was
"April
Morning - Civil War Prodigal"
Set
in the Civil War era, Jeb, an orphaned teenager, makes a life-changing
decision to not only run away from home, but also from God. God speaks
to Jeb and draws him back to Him through relationships and salvation
that he encounters on the battlefield. This is a heart-warming and
soul-stirring depiction of a young man’s battle with himself and his
Savior. |

Last year's production at Temple Christian
School was "Adoniram Judson: Cost of
Greatness". It was a
sequel to "Adoniram Judson: Marked for Greatness"
that TCS preformed a few years ago. Every high school student
participates in the intense, week-long production.

During the week-long Drama Camp,
the Staff works in fast-paced rehearsals, striving for excellence in
blocking, characterization and dramatic climax.
Stage Make-up Supervisors teach
high school students and moms the basics of stage make-up, including
straight make-up and old age. More advanced students are instructed in
special effects and beard making.
A brief devotional before each
class helps keep everything in perspective. The stage crew meets every day
for devotions, for instruction in stage lighting, audio and in the setting
up and shifting of scenery. Students learn that "behind the scenes"
work is just as important as the acting.
All the plays and musicals have
been great success in churches and Christian schools. They are
biblically sound and dramatically excellent. At the end of the. week,
a program
will be presented as a full-length high school play.
