Preschool Philosophy
Temple Christian School

"And ye shall know the truth
and the truth shall make you free."
John 3:32
King’s Kid Child Care Center seeks to embrace a philosophy of education that
is firmly based upon principles derived from God’s order. There are several
principles in particular which have shaped the development of our school.
These are not exhaustive, but they are foundational.
The Preschool experience formulates the basis for lasting attitudes toward
learning. At this age learning is best accomplished through play and
multi-sensory involvement. Our
program provides many
hands-on
experiences. We seek to develop the whole child
by addressing the physical, academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs
of each child. We offer a pliable academic atmosphere, flexible curriculum,
and celebrate individual progress. Opportunities are available for each
student to experience success and challenge on a daily basis. Teachers will
have the opportunity to implement a Christian viewpoint into every area of
learning.
We believe that:
-
King’s Kids derives its authority from the family. God gave parents the
responsibility of educating their children (Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians
6:14). Temple Baptist Church, as an assembly of believers, has established
King’s kids as an extension of the educational processes of our church
families, providing a supportive basis of encouragement as they seek to
fulfill their God-given responsibilities (Proverbs 19:27, Jeremiah 10:2).
As a congregation, we have further opened the ministry to other families
in our community who are seeking a similar Christ-centered and
academically challenging education for their children.
-
The education students receive at King’s Kids must be based on the
authority, authenticity, and reliability of the Bible as the complete and
final revelation of God concerning all matters of truth, faith and
practice (John17:7, II Timothy 3:15-17; Jude 3). We desire that students
learn to view everything through the eyes of God as revealed in the
Scripture, so that they may become God-centered in their thinking.
-
A truly Christian education must be Christ-centered rather than student or
teacher-centered. Jesus Christ must be at the center of all that is
believed, said, and done. He is the source of all wisdom and knowledge
(John 14:6, Colossians 2:3, 8-10).
-
We have a responsibility to reach out into our community and influence
young people for Christ. We are, therefore, evangelistic in our approach
to Christian education (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Mark 10:14).
-
We must seek also to edify young people and build them up in the faith.
Character training and understanding of doctrine are important aspects of
a Christian education (Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 1:28-29; Ephesians
4:11-16). It is our desire that our students both know the truth and apply
the truth wisely in their own lives (John 8:32; John 16:13).
-
King’s Kids has the responsibility of academic training. We must
thoroughly educate young people, preparing them with the skills they will
need to serve the Lord in any vocation into which He may lead them (II
Peter 1:5).
-
We must additionally provide a broad range of experiences for our
students, believing that these are important in the overall development of
young people. Christ-honoring programs in music and drama are, therefore,
an important part of the education provided here at King’s Kids (Luke
2:52; Ps. 96:1; I Chron. 15:16; II Chron 5:13; Ps. 150:3-5).
PRESCHOOL GOALS
To provide a nurturing atmosphere which encourages students to:
-
Develop an awareness of their uniqueness.
-
Work harmoniously with peers, contributing to the group as well as
recognizing obligations to others.
-
Love learning and school while building academic & spiritual readiness.
-
Develop a "can do" attitude.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature,
and in favour with God and man."
Luke 2:52
King’s Kids offers a preschool program that will prepare your child for
school. The emphasis of this program is character and phonics. The A Beka
curriculum is followed and many of the children will complete the program as
early readers. They will learn number concepts, writing, and be exposed to
some science. Learning is fun at this Center, and your child will be excited
about what he does in the classroom. Each child is treated as an individual
and is encouraged to learn at his own maturity level.
Our educational programs meet each day, Monday through Friday, from 8:30am
to 12:00noon.
At the end of the program, your child will be promoted into the next
program; and the five year olds will graduate. There will be a ceremony so
that you and your family and friends can see the accomplishments that your
child has achieved in the preceding months.
